Natalie Imbruglia
Natalie Imbruglia nait à Sydney le 4 février 1975 et grandit dans une famille de quatre filles dans un bled paumé sur la côte. Comme son aînée Kylie Minogue, Natalie joue dans une sitcom australienne - Neighbours - dont elle est une des héroïnes principales. En 1996, la jeune femme part s'installer à Londres. C'est alors qu'elle décide de se lancer dans ce qu'elle voulait vraiment faire: écrire et interprêter ses chansons. La décision lui réussit puisqu'elle se retrouve trés vite à Los Angeles pour enregistrer son premier album Left of The Middle. Pour cette première expérience, la belle s'entourent de pointures. Son premier single Torn est produit par Nigel Godrich, connu pour son travail avec Radiohead. Sur Big Mistake, elle travaille avec Mark Goldenberg - auteur et producteur de Novocaïne for The Soul de Eels -et avec Andy Wright, collaborateur de Alisha's Attic. En 2001, Natalie Imbruglia sort White Lilies Island. Fin 2003, la chanteuse épouse Daniel Johns du groupe Silverchair. Quatre ans après son dernier album, elle revient en avril 2005 avec un nouvel opus intitulé Counting down the days.

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Fin des années 70, Anthony Kiedis et Michael "Flea" Balzary, deux lycéens, forment avec Hillel Slovak et Jack Irons le groupe Anthym. En 1980, ils se produisent dans les clubs d'Hollywood. Sous l'influence de Flea, le groupe mélange funk et métal. Ils rebaptisent successivement leur groupe "What is This ?" et The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Out in L.A.

En 1983, ils se rendent compte que leurs concerts ont du succès. En effet, ils se font remarquer en jouant parfois complètement nus avec juste une chaussette sur le sexe ! Ils décident d'envoyer quelques démos aux maisons de disques en incluant des titres comme Out in L.A. ou Green Heaven.

Quelques mois plus tard, les Red Hot signent un contrat portant sur sept albums avec EMI. Quelques problèmes empêchent Hillel et Jack de les rejoindre pour l'enregistrement de leur premier album The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Anthony et Flea recrutent alors un guitariste, Jack Sherman, et un batteur, Cliff Martinez. Mais l'alchimie n'est plus tout à fait la même. Le disque sort en août 84 et passe inaperçu. Deux mois plus tard, Jack Sherman quitte le groupe.

Freaky Styley

Hillel finit par rejoindre Anthony et Flea. En 1985, ils enregistrent leur second album Freaky Styley alliant punk-rock et funk. Début 1986, Cliff Martinez décide d'abandonner le groupe. Un départ finalement de bon augure puisqu'il est remplacé par Jack Irons, le batteur originel du groupe. Les Peppers retrouvent ainsi leur formation d'origine.

En 87, ils réalisent leur troisième album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan. C'est un flop commercial. En réalité, ils ont du mal à se détacher de l'image de groupe de club. Kiedis et Slovak sont à l'époque pris dans la tourmente de l'héroïne.

Overdose

En 1988, l'album atteint la 143e place des charts. Une bien maigre victoire. Le 27 juin, le guitariste est retrouvé mort d'une overdose. Il avait 26 ans. Jack fait une dépression nerveuse et quitte le groupe pour de bon. Anthony et Flea se retrouvent à nouveau seuls. Rapidement, ils enrôlent Duane "Blackbyrd" Mc Knight et Darren Peligro. Cela ne durera pas: ils quittent le groupe au bout de quelques semaines seulement. Anthony et Flea se trouvent un nouveau guitariste, John Frusciante, et un nouveau batteur, Chad Smith.

Higher Ground

Mother's Milk sort en 89 et est dédié à Hillel Slovak. Le tube qui cartonne est Higher Ground, reprise d'un morceau de Stevie Wonder. L'année suivante, Mother's Milk est certifié disque d'or. Les Red Hot décident de rompre le contrat qui les lie à EMI. Ils signent alors chez Warner pour trois albums.

Under The Bridge

Blood Sugar Sex Magik paraît fin 91, dans lequel figure le hit mondial Under The Bridge. Mai 92, les ventes de l'album atteignent le million. En pleine tournée mondiale, John Frusciante quitte le groupe. Arik Marshall se joint au groupe pour finir la tournée. Au bout d'un an à peine, Dave Navarro le remplace. Leur sixième opus One Hot Minute sort en 95. Le style y est plus sombre, moins funk que dans leurs oeuvres précédentes.

En 1999, Californication envahit les bacs des disquaires. Le single Otherside est un succès. Ils sont nominés trois fois aux Grammy Awards: meilleure performance rock, chanson rock et album rock. Les ventes dépassent allègrement le million d'exemplaires...
